Dr. Diyawu Mumin, Executive Director of the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS), joined fellow Heads of Agencies from Ghana’s Ministry of Education at the Giga Connectivity Forum (GCF), held from July 8–10, 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland. The GCF is a global platform convened by Giga—a joint initiative of UNICEF and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)—to accelerate efforts toward universal school connectivity.

As the Executive Director of Ghana’s lead agency for distance learning and digital education innovation, Dr. Mumin’s presence at the forum reinforced the country’s commitment to advancing equitable access to technology in education. His role at the forum aligned with CENDLOS’ mandate to leverage digital solutions to transform teaching and learning across all regions of Ghana, especially in underserved and rural communities.

The GCF brought together policymakers, technology leaders, development partners, and education experts from across the globe to assess progress in school connectivity and explore collaborative strategies. Key conversations focused on data-driven connectivity mapping, investment opportunities, and the integration of emerging technologies like AI to support inclusive and resilient learning systems.

The event, which coincided with the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), AI for Good Summit, and ITU’s 160th anniversary, provided a unique opportunity to align global digital education priorities with national strategies. CENDLOS’ participation further underscored Ghana’s proactive role in global EdTech advancement and its dedication to achieving universal school connectivity.
