Who We Are

The Center for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS) is Ghana's premier institution for open and distance education. Established to provide leadership in educational technology and digital learning, we are committed to making quality education accessible to all Ghanaians regardless of their location or circumstances.

As the national focal point for distance learning and open schooling, we develop, promote, and coordinate innovative educational technologies that enhance teaching and learning across Ghana.

What We Do

Our comprehensive services to transform education in Ghana

ADVISORY ROLE

Advise on, support and coordinate open distance eLearning (ODeL) activities in partnership with the public and private sectors.

ODEL ACTIVITIES

We support coordinate and offer advice on Open and Distance eLearning (ODel) activities across Ghana.

VIRTUAL SCHOOLS

We contribute to the establishment and operation of Open (Virtual) School & Open University Systems of education in Ghana.

EDUCATIONAL CONTENT

Together with our stakeholders we develop interactive, attractive, relevant and approved educational contents within the remit of the GES curriculum.

REGULATORS

We are mandated to harmonize and regulate Open and Distance eLearning (ODeL) in Ghana.

TRAINING

We provide training in Open and Distance eLearning (ODeL) delivery and assist other institutions to adopt dual-mode delivery.

Our Journey Through Time

From our humble beginnings to becoming Ghana's leader in distance education

2002: Founding of PSI-DL

Milestone

The President's Special Initiative on Distance Learning (PSI-DL) was established in 2002 as part of Ghana's commitment to expanding access to quality education through technology.

2003: eContent Production

Innovation

PSI-DL launched their first e-Content in 2003. The e-Content consisted of Mathematics, English Language and Integrated Science lessons that were pre-recorded and broadcast on national television for junior and senior high school students.

2009: Migration to CENDLOS

Transformation

PSI-DL was rebbranded to Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS) to reflect its expanded mandate and national focus on distance education.

2012: iBox Launch

Breakthrough

The iBox, an offline system with browsing capabilities (without need for internet connectivity) was introduced. It featured compatible software and eContent in four formats (text, audio-visual and interactive practical and questions & answers) for offline classroom use without internet cost.

2019: iCampus Platform

Digital Leap

Launched iCampus, a comprehensive online learning platform for Senior High School students in Ghana offering a hassle-free learning experience at students' own pace.

2021: Re-Branding

New Era

CENDLOS underwent a comprehensive rebranding to reflect its evolution as Ghana's premier institution for digital and distance learning, with updated visual identity and expanded service offerings.
