Ghana made a strong and strategic impression at the 2025 UNESCO Digital Learning Week held in Paris, with a high-level delegation led by Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Minister for Education

The event, which brought together global policymakers, education leaders, and technology innovators, served as a platform for Ghana to highlight its bold steps in advancing digital learning and artificial intelligence (AI) adoption in education.

Representing Ghana’s innovation in the digital education space was Dr. Diyawu Mumin, Executive Director of CENDLOS (Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling). Dr. Mumin joined the national delegation of policymakers and stakeholders, underscoring the pivotal role of CENDLOS in driving digital transformation and promoting inclusive, technology-driven education systems across the country.

In his address, Minister Haruna Iddrisu reaffirmed Ghana’s strong commitment to digital learning, announcing the rollout of the National AI Strategy. This ambitious plan aims to train 1 million young people in artificial intelligence skills and develop 10,000 AI researchers by 2033, positioning Ghana as a continental leader in the digital economy.

As the government’s lead agency in open, distance, and digital learning, CENDLOS continues to play a central role in this transformation journey. Through innovative solutions, digital capacity building, and AI integration, CENDLOS is ensuring that learners, teachers, and institutions across Ghana are well-prepared for the demands of the future.
