On Monday 6th February 2023, the Executive Director of Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS) Nana Gyamfi Adwabour joined the Hon. Minister For Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum at the Inter-Governmental Summit at Freetwown in Sierra Leone, to discuss the improvement of learning outcomes in the African continent.
Speaking at the summit, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum pointed out some of the transformative educational policies the government of Ghana under the Ministry of Education has introduced to aid effective learning outcomes in Ghana.
The Minister highlighted interventions such as School feeding program, Free SHS/TVET, and online learning platforms that breaks the learning poverty and gender parity gaps.
The Government of Ghana is keen on ensuring inclusive education and believes no child should be left behind in the educational journey due to financial constraints, as a result, the introduction of policies such as the Free SHS/TVET, and eLearning.
Dr. Osei Adutwum urged on the prioritization of Education from Pre-school to the University to create a competitive advantage in the global space.
As part of contributing to effective learning outcomes, CENDLOS through the Ministry of Education has introduced technology-mediated learning platforms to provide online and offline educational resource materials that learners can access on any technological devices. They include; Ghana Learning Passport , The ibox and icampus, Minecraft Coding for Games, and Virtual Labs. This is geared towards bridging the learning poverty gap that exist in Ghana’s education delivery.
