The 2nd National Digital and Distance Learning Conference was hosted by the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling. The event took place at the scenic Labadi Beach Hotel on the 14th and 15th of August in 2023.
Under the theme “Reimagining Education,” the conference rallied for collaborative efforts to ensure fair access to digital and distance education in Africa. A diverse gathering of educators, policymakers, and experts convened from across the nation to delve into the boundless possibilities of digital and distance learning, aiming to shape an education system that’s both inventive and inclusive.
According to the Minister, Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, “I underscored the pivotal need to bridge the digital gap, guaranteeing that every student, regardless of economic circumstance, can partake in the advantages of digital and distance learning opportunities”. The spotlight also fell on the unveiling of initiatives like the Ghana Virtual Senior High School, as well as the debut of the Ghana Learning Passport and the introduction of Minecraft education.
Throughout the conference, a tapestry of experts generously shared their wisdom and triumphant tales from the realm of digital and distance learning. The array of discussions spanned virtual classrooms, online evaluations, training educators in digital teaching techniques, and effective tactics to sustain student engagement within remote settings.
We stand at a crossroads where technological leaps offer the potential to transform the art of teaching and the journey of learning. Hence, it is our mandate to enthusiastically embrace these prospects, uplifting accessibility, caliber, and relevance in the realm of education.
